Funny story........

Happy Thanksgiving! Our thanksgiving fun started yesterday when Aubrey, Kyle, and Derek came in. We had to keep up the tradition with going out to eat at fish house and this is where our funny story begins. It all started when we ordered our drinks and our waitress brought our drinks out and I was the lucky one to be handed the drinks. As I saw her hand around the glass that I was about to grab I noticed an awful looking bandaid that looked 10 days old. I wanted to pass out there but I figured I wouldn't make a seen so I nicely grabbed the glass from her hand AND THE BANDAID TOUCHED ME! I then turned to give Joe his drink and grunted and then turned back and she was trying to hand me another drink. So there I am staring at the nasty bandaid thinking "please don't touch me, please don't touch me" and I slowly went to grab the other drink and it happened AGAIN! Uh....I just wanted to die right there. I suprisingly chose not to make a scene and went on with my dinner trying not to think about.

So if you think that was bad the story only gets better. Throughout our whole meal we noticed that our waitress was losing her voice and towards the end of our meal our waitress asked if any of us wanted refills and a few said yes and a few said no and then as she was walking off Derek asked her nicely "how did you lose your voice?" And she answered a little too honestly with "Oh I developed a virus within the last 24 hours" We all just looked our drinks and our food that she had breathed on and then Aubrey looked back at her and gave her a look like "why are you here" It was so funny!

Now it was time to get our check and as our waitress is picking up our plates she asks "do you guys have any coupons or are any of you special enough to get a discount?" We all looked around confused and she then asked again and my mom said "no but you can give us one if you want" and the waitress replied with "well are any of you special or over 60"? hahahaha, she just told my parents they looked 7 years older. It was so rude! After she left we started laughing.

I hope everyone has a good thanksgiving and I hope everyone eats as much as I will be. My mom is in the process of making her 8 pies right now as we speak!

Why I love living in Little Rock

Almost everyday I am asked the question "how's the drive"? And to much of there amazement I say great, not bad. If you know anything about Conway and Little Rock most people live in Conway and drive to Little Rock for work and very few, me, drive from Little Rock to Conway which in my case I definitely have the better end of the deal. You see one of the big reasons we moved to Little Rock was so Joe would no longer have the commute he has because he was coming home everyday with so much anger from just the drive that it was really starting to get on my nerves. And Joe developed a little word called "road rage". I have always thought Joe was a good driver but ever since he started commuting he is so mean to drivers and he thinks that everyone is a bad driver and he will yell at them for the dumbest reasons and then I yell at Joe for yelling at them. It's a whole process and I'm trying to break him of it.

Anyway, back to me and my commute .....Every Monday through Friday I drive 30 min. to work and 30 min. back (obviously) and every day I laugh while passing the oncoming vehicles because they are at a stand still for absolutely no apparent reason. I have never understood traffic and I still don't understand it because seriously there really isn't any need of it. You are at a stand still forever and then all of the sudden no one is infront of you and you all the road in the world to yourself. Well the other day I got my camera ready and I knew I was coming up on the traffic. As soon as I pass visions (I have to pick up my check before going into conway) and make the turn onto the flats it's like BAM, cars! I love it as I keep on with my 75 mph!

If you click on the pictures and make them larger you can see the line of cars that are backed up! No wonder Joe hated driving to work and back everyday!

We're BFF with BARBIE!

I know Melanie is going to kill me for this but I have to brag that I know BARBIE!

A few months ago Melanie applied for some job and some how ended up being barbie. I don't really know the whole story but the funnier part of it all to me was that my mom was trying to get Aubrey to do this weeks before I found out that Melanie had applied and got the job.

Joe and I were fortunate enough to have Barbie "Melanie" work at the wal-mart that we shop at in North Little Rock. We showed up today to see her and we had to look all over for her until I saw her sitting in a chair taking pictures with all the little kids. I did what I do best and bent over in laughter. I think I was laughing harder at the fact that she is a PERFECT barbie! We hung around for the rest of her shift and even got to have lunch with barbie after wards and do a little shopping. We definately miss living/hanging out with Barbie.

Soaring Wings Half Marathon

Last year I found out about Conway sponsoring their first half marathon and I was all about it until I ran my marathon and learned that I hated to run, haha, I really don't hate to run, the marathon training was just too much for me. Well my dad and I agreed that we were going to do it together like we did the marathon. Months went by and October was getting closer and I still had not even attempted to start training. So one sunday afternoon sometime in September and nicely asked my dad if he had signed up for the race yet (hoping he hadn't) and the ever so wonderful words came out of his mouth "I decided not to run it". I felt like the biggest weight was lifted off my shoulders. 1. because I no longer felt guilty for not trainging and 2. I know longer felt guilty for letting my dad down. I then went on through the rest of September and most of October. The week of the race was approaching and I knew that in 2 days the race was going on and I had a little bit of guilt but not as much because I knew that my dad wasn't doing it either until I recieved "the phone call". I had been out shopping all day having the time of my life and noticed that my dad had called and left a message but I figured that I would check it later. Well later came after my wonderful day of shopping.......I held down one to listen to my message thinking "oh my dad called to say hi" but instead I got "Celeste, I went into to work early today and well.....I decided to run the race on Saturday and I signed up today" WHAT? 2 DAYS BEFORE THE RACE? (that was my reaction when I heard the message) Can I just tell you what words really wanted to come out of my mouth? No I can't tell you because people do read this. I was more then beside myself. So what else was I to do but call my dad?

Ring....Ring....Hello?

ME-DOUGLAS L. MARTINDALE!!!!!!!!!

DAD-HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE(if can only imagine my dad giggling like a litte girl because he knows that I am NOT HAPPY with him)

ME-What do you think your doing?

DAD-Well? (aubrey and mom you know EXACTLY how he said that too)

I could go on but I won't. I'll just make it short and sweet, I was not nice but I came to terms that my dad was in better shape then me and I was just jealous! Oh well, I was/am proud of him and I was able to go (2 days later) and cheer him on. I even got to run the last stretch with him , which was funny because some girl actually thought I had ran the whole race in jeans, a sweatshirt, and converse, now that would take a REAL runner hahaha. I was glad I was able to attend because I know he would have never missed one of my races. I could always count on him to be on the side lines cheering me on when I was really wanting to die! Thanks dad and Congrats!

All I have to say is not many people can say they were able to cheer on their 56 or 57 (I can't remember) on crossing the finish line after running 13.1 miles? Actually not too many people can say they were able to run a full marathon with their 55 or 56 (at the time) year old dad and cross the finish line together and finish at the exact time.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I will start out by saying that Halloween is my least favorite holiday but it's fun to get together with friends and family to celebrate. This year we went over to Katie and Colby's to celebrate where we met up with David and Valerie. We had chili for dinner and then Katie made dirt cake that was REALLY good. Katie got all fancy on us this year and decorated her house all Halloween like and even got all crazy on us by putting gummy eyes in our dessert, the boys had fun with those.....me on the other hand had to turn my head in order to keep my dinner down. After we ate we headed over to the Lorimers where they go all out for Halloween with a spooky set up for trick or treaters. They knew I was scared of pretty much anything and had fun chasing me with their scary masks, and when I say scary I mean SCARY! When the trick or treaters stopped coming we went inside played a little rock band and then headed back to Katie and Colby's for a movie. I didn't even make it 5 minutes into the movie before I was gone! I was so tired! It was definately fun and definately one of the better Halloweens. Thanks Katie and Colby!

I'm so excited!

The one down fall about our apartment since we've moved in was a smoker three doors down from us. You could literally walk around the corner and then BAM you got hit with the awful smell of smoke and then the same thing happened whenever we would open our front door to leave and even just walk by our door inside. Finally a couple of weeks ago I figured out which apartment it was with my dog sniffing nose. Well today on our way out to church we came to the great surprise of seeing that our smoking neighbor was MOVING OUT! I was so happy I can not even explain to you how excited I was. When we got home we saw that he was all done moving and let's just say I sniffed the nice CLEAN air all the way down our hallway to our door! Can I just say this might be one of the best days of my life.......

Blue Angels Air Show

This past Saturday was the day Joe looks forward to every other year. Yes, it has something to do with airplanes and airforce. We got to go with my parents to the Air show and it was as always AMAZING! I still don't understand how you fly 18 inches away from another airplane and do twist and turns. AHHH! As always though they gave us a good show and this year we got to meet them afterwards. Melanie and Adam showed up after they were done and I talked Melanie into getting a picture with one of the pilots. I was giggling like a little girl and I felt SO uncomfortable for Melanie. The pilot probably thought I was a 12 year old taking there picture. I was sad to see it was over and can't wait for the next one. I told Joe for the next one I'm going to give him a microphone and I'm gonna wear a pair of headsets so he can tell me the name of every airplane, what it does, when it was made, and which airplane he'd rather fly. I love my dorky husband! I guess I'm just glad I won't have to worry about him not loving his job someday.
This smile was never wiped off of my dad's face

Joe and I were representing! hahaI couldn't get in a good position to get there faces. Darn!

Race For The Cure

Last weekend my mom and I got to walk in the race for the cure while the boys cheered us on on the side line. It was a lot of fun but I think it'll be my last year to walk it. Little Rock had the biggest turn out throughout the US (at least that's what I've been told) with 50,000 people. It was SO PACKED! After 6 people stepping on my shoes and three of which my shoes actually came completely off and 3 strollers hitting me, we finished the race. I must admit I was out of shape and actually was sore the day after. Maybe that's my body telling me to get my fat butt outside and start exercising again.....Maybe I'll wait a couple more months since it's starting to get cold now, darn!

and it's a .......................

Since Julia doesn't have a blog I figured I would help her out in letting everyone know what the sex of her baby is. They found out today that it's a BOY! I am so excited for them but I'm starting to get worried for that little boy, two older sisters.....he's bound to be dressed up in dresses and of course make-up will be involved. I'm sure Brooklyn and Courtney are very excited and I know Julia and Nathan are in total shock. I asked her today "so are you going to move the girls in one room?" and her response "oh.......I really haven't thought about it until you just said something.....uh....we were just expecting another girl". Don't worry Jules, I'll definitely be out to decorate another kids room! I love when other people have babies! Congrats Julia and Nathan!

I'm HOME

So I flew home today around 11:00 and it was definitely a bitter sweet situation. I was glad to be home at my own place not living out of a suitcase and being able to see Joe but I really did not want to leave Kentucky! I had so much fun hanging out with Aubrey and actually getting to know Kyle. Kyle and I are a lot alike in the way that we don't go out of our way to meet people and we're both pretty shy to new people but this trip we both came out of our shells, I think it was the rock band that did it. Aubrey and I played, cleaned, organized, painted, and hung pictures in 4 days. It literally was the best week ever. On Friday one of my best friends, Britney, that used to live in Arkansas that now lives in Kentucky, drove down sick and pregnant just to see us. She is a real trooper. We went to lunch and did a little shopping and then hung out at Aubrey's. It was the most relaxed lunch I have ever had. I actually had things to talk about with people over food. It was great! Thanks Brit for driving down! Like I said earlier we tore up some rock band while I was there. I guess I should restate it to, I tore up the guitar! I attempted the drums and pretty much sucked but the guitar......I got good! I thought about buying it for us but Joe would literally never get any school work or flying done.

During my trip I think I amazed Aubrey and Kyle with the amount of milk I drink. I litterally had probably a gallon and half while I was there and that was being gracious. I still owe them a gallon of milk. Thanks Aubrey and Kyle for allowing my stubborn, pushy, and determined self to come visit you and take over your house. I hope you guys love it! I didn't take any pictures because I wanted Aubrey to be able to post them because she definately has a place to show off and be proud of. I did learn on my trip that Aubrey CAN decorate. I walked in and her living room was all done up so cute. I was so proud of her. Now I also learned that she is very easily distracted.....whether it's dancing, cleaning, or reading her journal she some how kept finding ways to get out of cleaning out her 2nd bedroom. No worries though, I would get her back on track and we did in deed get it cleaned out (thank heavens). I hope to be able to go back and visit many more times!

Good News/Bad News

Good News: Joe got a promotion at his job and he now the new salesman which totally fits Joe! He no longer has to be in the office and he gets to go out and try and get businesses to rent penske trailors, tractors, and trucks. The best part of the promotion is he gets a NEW car! Yea! They get 3 choices: Impala, fusion, or escape. There no toyotas but we won't be paying for it so we don't care. Joe ordered himself a white ford escape today.

Bad News: Since Joe is getting a new car we have to sell one of our vehicles and it came down to the truck! We are not that happy but we do what we gotta do right? I just keep telling myself "no worries, we'll get another one someday". Anyway, if anyone is looking for a sweet truck let us know cause we have one for sale!

Good News: I flew in to Kentucky today to spend the rest of the week with Aubrey! So far we have eaten at an asian restuarant that was really good and chillin at her place, which by the way is way cute and smells great! It's very fall like in her home and outside. It is so cold here!

Bad News: Northwest charged me $15 dollars to check in my one piece of luggage. I was confused and had to argue with the girl but I didn't win she told me the only free thing I could take was a carry on. What are these airlines coming to? Then I had to fly in a NASTY plane to memphis. Seriously instead of leather it was clothe seats, I felt like I was sitting at one of the movie theatres in Conway. Then on my flight to kentucky I seriously think I got a frost bite on my toes and feet and I even dressed warm! When I got off the plane and walked down the baggage claim I couldn't feel my feet until finally after about 15 min. my feet started tingling while my feet regained there heat. Don't worry though, it ended up being worth it when I saw Aubrey pull up to pick me up. It was definately love at first sight. hahaha boo!

3rd c-section and now a pro

I watched my 3rd c-section today but today was a special one because it was twins! Nichole and I have wanted to watch twins be delivered forever now so when we knew about the one today we jumped on it like white on rice. At 11:30 Dr. Lawrence got called over to the hospital STAT! So she ran over there and Nichole was bummed because she thought she wasn't going to be able to watch it until she got a phone call from Dr. Lawrence saying "if you want to watch this you better get over here now"! So Nichole came and got me and told me to hurry so we ran out of the office to the hospital. The whole time we were getting so nervous because we didn't know what was going on. Once we got out of the elevator we started running down the hall. We couldn't help but laugh at ourselves for running but then we both felt like we were "real" doctors!

When we got over to labor and delivery we suited up and headed into the room where we were greeted by Dr. Lawrence. She didn't have the concern in her voice as she did when she called and she said everything was fine the moms heart rate was just going down. So they got everything ready and then the dad came in and they told him not to touch anything blue so he put his hands next to his side like a little kid and walked in and almost ran into the "blue" table with all the sterile instruments! Everyone was yelling at him not to touch it and at that point Dr. Johnson was in the room and grabbed him by both hands and escorted him to his wife and made him sit down. He was so nervous it was cute! So they preceded with the c-section and delivered the twins, a boy and girl. After wards we told Dr. Lawrence and Dr. Johnson that we ran down the halls to get there and that we felt like doctors. They obviously laughed at us and then we proceeded to tell Dr. Johnson that we were pro's and could definitely do her next c-section! So let us know when your ready Dr. J...........p.s. I love my job!

Our Body Museum

This past weekend was the last weekend for the "Our body museum" in hot springs. It's a display of dead human bodies that they have been preserved and they show you the different muscles, bones, and parts on your body. I have been wanting to go ever since I saw the billboard in California this past summer so I finally convinced Joe into going. So Saturday we drove down to Hot Springs. It was so amazing! I love learning about the human body. There is nothing more interesting to me. I really went into it excited but I was extremely nervous at the same time because I mean seriously it's dead bodies on display but once we got in it was nothing like I expected. There were probably 7 bodies total just out in the open with no glass or ropes that had charts next to them showing you where each thing was on the body. Then they had the each part separate in glass boxes. They even had on display two different lungs, one healthy and one with cancer from smoking. They also had an esophagus that had cancer also. I hate to say it but it was so cool! It took us about 45 minutes to walk through the whole thing. I was pretty bummed because they wouldn't let you take pictures but I totally understand there reasoning. After we walked through that part of the museum we went and explored the rest of the museum which was pretty cool. They had tons of hands on things that were very educational. I was getting frustrated towards the end because I was tired and hungry and Joe had to go to EVERY SINGLE STATION and touch EVERY SINGLE DISPLAY! I seriously felt like I was with a 5 year old. It was cute but not so cute when your tired and starving. We had a blast and we totally recommend it to all of you if it's ever offered in your area.

Welcome to Tuf Nut Apartments/Loft

I have been harassed for WAY too long so here you go Anya and Katie! You guys are driving me crazy! I haven't posted pictures of our new place because I wanted to paint first and so that's exactly what we did this past weekend. We finished up last night so here the pics. Enjoy......

This is our form of a pantry. It obviously works for us
This is the view we see out our living room window, the long trailor looking building is the clinton library. This is the hallway to get to our place. So here they are, they're not really in order but you get the point. We absolutely love our choice of move and we love being making our apartment our own. Feel free to drop by anytime, we love visitors and there are great places around here to hang out. Oh and just FYI, I wouldn't have painted the brick normally but it was already painted white when we moved in and white obviously is not my favorite color.

FIRE! FIRE!

So as I was comfortable laying on the couch stalking people on their blogs while Joe was taking a test online I all of the sudden see our fire alarm in the apartment flashing. I thought I was seeing things until Joe said "Celeste what'd you do?" I had to get up from my comfortable couch with my cell phone and laptop in hand, just in case the sprinklers above went off, I looked out in the hallway to see if anyone was leaving and I kept hearing peoples doors shut but I never saw anyone and then the sirens in the hallway started going off and it just kept getting louder and louder so I shut the door. I then grabbed my keys, incase we did have to leave, and waited for Joe to finish his test. He was being timed and was only on question 22 of 55 and he was trying to finish before we went downstairs. So I just kept opening and shutting the door trying to figure out what we should do until finally the last time I opened the door I smelt it! I decided to put my laptop down and I made Joe leave his test and we headed downstairs. We joined everyone outside and watched the fireman arrive and go inside to find what was going on. Of course, laughter was my only emotion at this time and I was laughing the whole time and taking pictures with my phone. You should have seen these firemen, they were all decked out with axes in hand and everything. Well after about 15 fireman going in to investigate they came out with much disappointment on there faces and kindly told us it was burnt toast. All Joe and I could think of were the people in their apartment trying to fan out the smoke while everyone else was downstairs. All I know is I'm glad it wasn't us and especially glad that the sprinklers didn't go off because we've been worried about those boogers ever since we moved in.

On the better side of things we are all settled in our apartment and we absolutely LOVE IT! I'm not gonna lie it was hard for me for the first couple days because we went from 1400 sq to about 925. I lost my linen closet and my walk-in closet but now that I have readjusted I totally love it! The location is great and is very close to the interstate so my drive to conway everyday is a breeze. We also live a block away from all the restuarants in downtown so we walk to eat on the weekends.

Good News

We found out today that we were approved for our apartment and we can begin moving in tomorrow! Since it's been raining for 3 straight days now we won't actually move until Friday so if anyone gets bored and wants to help Joe will be moving all of our stuff up stairs and down a long hallway Friday around 3, haha totally kidding. Anyway, I'm ready to get this show on the road and become a "true" city girl! We are so excited!
