Weigh in

Don't worry, I refused my weigh in today BUT we were able to weigh Liz. She has gained over a pound in two weeks weighing in at 5 lbs 9 ounces which puts her in the 65th percentile. My poor body. I'm only 34 weeks pregnant. Looks like i'll be refusing the rest of my weigh ins if she's gonna keep this up. I told work to go ahead and schedule my c-section. Joe's reaction to this all was "I'm excited!" My statement back to him was "My V-gina isn't excited". Then he told me that I needed to lay off the ice cream because she obviously likes it way too much.

wish me luck!

Babycare Basics 101

I thought it would be good for Joe and I to take a class and learn about babies before we, well before I, bring one into this world. We signed up for Babycare Basics since it was just an overview of everything. I'm glad we went, it was very informative and I think Joe really learned a lot. I wish we had not stayed up so late the night before because Joe and I were kind of dosing off but we still got a lot out of it.
One thing I really liked was that she showed/told us what all they would do in the hospital and told us what all to bring with us. Now I don't have to wonder what their doing with my child and will feel much safer. Which by the way, why is it that the women do all the work and then they have to just lay there while the husband gets to go and see the baby, hold the baby, and watch the babies first bath? Have I ever mentioned I hate being a woman......
Joe was cracking me up with the baby doll. He was so gentle and was trying so hard to get everything right. Of course the first time we even get to touch the babies I drop mine and the head hit the table and made a loud noise. I laughed...... don't worry, i'll be gentle with Liz.
Some things I learned were
*don't use ANY type of lotion until 2-3 weeks after they are born. Lotion clogs there poors and causes milam? I think in simpler terms it's baby acne
*we learned how to give a sponge bath and they said to only bath the child every other day
*wash the face first without soap and then wash the the rest of the body with soap.
*hot dogs, marshmallows, and hard candy are the top 3 choking hazards (I knew hating hot dogs was a good thing)
*I finally learned how to swaddle a baby. that is something I have never been able to figure out.
Anyway, it was a good class and now Joe wants to pretty much go to all of them. I think we might try out the baby CPR since our teacher HIGHLY recommended it.
